New Immigration Rules in the UK: Effective from July 22

The UK government is set to introduce new immigration rules starting July 22, 2025. These changes will significantly impact foreign nationals who wish to move to the UK for work.

What Are the Key Changes?

Increase in Minimum Salary for Skilled Workers

Under the new rules, the minimum annual salary requirement for those applying to the UK under the Skilled Worker Visa category will be increased from £38,700 to £41,700.

  Ban on 111 Job Categories

Due to the increase in the salary threshold, 111 job roles will no longer qualify for work visas in the UK.
Notably, care worker positions are also included in this list. From now on, foreign nationals will no longer be recruited to the UK for care worker jobs.

Upcoming Changes

  Restrictions on Bringing Family Members

By the end of 2026, individuals working in certain job sectors without a university degree will no longer be allowed to bring their family members to the UK.

Changes in Language Requirements, CoS, and Family Visas

By the end of the year, further changes are expected in the following areas:

  • English language proficiency requirements
  • Rules for obtaining Certificates of Sponsorship (CoS)
  • Visa rules for family members

Conclusion

The UK’s new immigration rules are tightening skill-based eligibility criteria for foreign nationals seeking employment, especially in various technical and service sectors.
It is crucial to thoroughly understand these new regulations before planning your job search or migration process to the UK.
