Canada is offering a faster pathway to Permanent Residency (PR) for skilled workers who are proficient in the French language.
In 2025, the Government of Canada has expanded opportunities under the Express Entry system to attract French-speaking skilled workers who can contribute to the country’s economic growth.
The Express Entry program is an online application system designed to select skilled professionals for immigration through the following categories:
- Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP)
- Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP)
- Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
Applicants may also increase their chances through the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP), which awards additional points to candidates nominated by Canadian provinces.
Under the updated 2025 rules, candidates who achieve NCLC Level 7 or higher in French language proficiency will receive an additional 25 CRS points.
Furthermore, those who also score CLB Level 5 or higher in English can earn an extra 50 points, significantly boosting their Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score.
Applicants must submit official language test certificates to prove their proficiency. Once invited to apply, they must submit a complete PR application within 60 days.
Those with Canadian work experience can earn even more CRS points. The Francophone Mobility Work Permit provides a valuable opportunity for French speakers to gain Canadian work experience before applying for PR.
This initiative opens a promising pathway for French-speaking Indians and other global applicants to build a new life and career in Canada.
