Job Scams in Iran – Ministry of External Affairs Issues Warning
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has warned that incidents of human trafficking and extortion targeting Indians are on the rise under the guise of offering jobs in Iran.
In its official statement, the MEA said:
Certain criminal groups are luring Indians with promises of “jobs in Iran” or offers to “send them to other countries for work via Iran.” Once the victims arrive, they are abducted and their families are threatened for ransom.
Key Warning Points:
- Iran currently allows visa-free entry only for Indian tourists.
- If anyone claims that you can enter Iran without a work visa for employment, they may be linked to trafficking or scam networks.
- Do not fall for fake job offers or fraudulent agents.
The MEA has urged everyone to remain cautious and to verify visa and work permit details thoroughly before traveling to Iran for employment.
